Koala Art and Australian Dot Art

I have to share these two art projects from our study of Australia today. Let's start with
this little cutie! I love him!

We are studying Australia in our class, and we made these little Koala bear pictures with chalk pastel.

1. Using pastel, draw circles for the head, body and ears. Fill them all in and smudge the chalk around!

2. Add black for the nose, eyes, mouth and edges and smudge! My grade 1 and 2 students just copied my example and they all turn out different but CUTE!

3. Cut the whole thing out and glue over the blue and green background.

This is our version of Australian Aboriginal Art. All you need is paint and Q-tips for this one. Students used simple lizard tracers.
