Farmyard Fun Masks and Free Comics

We are planning a trip to the farm next week, so in preparation, we've been reading every book we can about farm animals. We also made some cute printable paper masks of farm animals!

They were a big hit, and students happily took part in the dramatic play tasks they were given, such as "Pretend you are a cow. Tell everyone all about yourself. Where do you live? What are your babies called? What do you eat?" Just by listening I could do most of my assessment about how much they had learned so far! I wish all assessment could be done so easily!

If you'd like to make some masks like these, just grab any clip art set and enlarge the file so that the head fills the entire page. The body can hang off the edge - it won't show when you print. Then simply cut around the head after printing, and make eye holes! You can grab the farm animal graphics I used by clicking the image or caption below:

Here's a farm comics freebie for you that goes with our farm unit. Just print and laminate, and you'll have an instant literacy center for your students to use with dry erase felts. Or, you could make printables with them. Even my reluctant writers love to write in what they think each animal is saying.

I made a new poster for our classroom and wanted to share it with you!
This is also a FREE download - enjoy!
