In the summer, all the days so far seem like one big long day! I've taken the time to go for nice long walks - such pretty views nearby.
More wellness...I'm once again training for a 5k race. I'm not actually a happy runner because it makes my feet hurt! But, I do it anyway. This is me finishing the last 5k I did to raise money for the local hospice.
I felt very accomplished until I saw the person who finished right behind me was a 70 year old woman. I'm not even kidding! *sigh*
I know. You can stop looking now.
It's downright embarrassing. I don't know how that happened, but between hubby's inherited tools, my son's hockey equipment, and who knows what else, it just took on a life of its own.
So, fast forward, after drywalling, patching, painting, sanding, cleaning, and tossing for days and nights on end, our garage now looks like this:
Only it's not a garage anymore.
It must now be referred to as THE GYM.
Poor hubby is exhausted...but now he has to build a shed to keep all the tools that he's not allowed to bring back into the gym anymore!
I told him that, and when he looked confused I reminded him nicely that people don't keep tools in a gym. :-)
So now we can be all fit and healthy! Watch your back, Jillian Michaels fitness DVDs! I'm coming for you!
More about keeping active: Gardening! I just never get tired of moving plants around, pruning little bits, and watching the hummingbirds buzz around me. But don't be fooled - it is GREAT exercise to lug bags of dirt and dig around.
And in summer I finally have time to eat well. My view from the deck with my computer and a Tuscan Salad that hubby made for me! Yum!
A stroll to the beach turns into a 4 hour walk...that makes my Fitbit happy!
What do you do to stay well in the summer? And how do you carry that over into the new school year?
You pictures are beautiful! So bold and colorful. My favorite is the first pic! Refreshing. :)

DeleteI love the pictures. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteMr. Zebra could have his own story series about how he always has costume changes lol.
Journey Of A Substitute Teacher
Great idea - I'm going to give that one some thought!! Or at the very least bundle all of his costumes up into a graphics set. He always looks a bit worried about everything he's being subjected to, doesn't he?

Susanna
Hello Miss Susanna! Beautiful picutres, yummy salad and adorable clip art. I'm not a happy runner either. I think I mentioned before that when I reach the finish line all the sponsors are packing up and there are no more bananas or Gatorade! HAHA! Wonderful post!
ReplyDeleteHaha! But at least we get to the finish line. And I only JUST BARELY finished before the old lady. I think she might have been a robot or something.

Susanna, how do you get ANYTHING done living where you do? It is so gorgeous! Love that beach, that view, and that poppy! And... LOVE your zebra's pants. Oh my gosh-that little threesome. YUM to your salad- and HOORAY for your 5 K! Hey, you beat the 70 year old...so... :)

I should be so lucky to run in a 5K when I'm 70, right? :-)
DeleteSo glad you are enjoying yourself! Would love to be wherever you are--that first photograph is so striking... Beautiful pictures of your flowers and view, too. Thanks so much for sharing!

Love the writing prompt idea. The zebra looks cute - maybe a bit embarrassed.

I love your clip art! So sweet! I make my own, but just beginning, so I only have a small selection that I use myself and give to friends! I am from Ontario, and we don't go back till September. Also, I just finished a course, so my summer is just beginning! Would love for you to come visit me on my blog!
